Dr K. A. D. Deshani won the Gold medal for Best Post Graduate Research in 2019 from the Institute of Applied Statistics in Sri Lanka. Her PhD research, titled “Data-Driven Demand-Response Modelling for Electricity Consumption in Sri Lanka,” was supervised by Dr Dilhari Attygalle (University of Colombo, Sri Lanka) and Dr Liwan Liyanage Hansen (Western Sydney University, Australia). Dr Deshani captivated the audience with her findings at the academic sessions of the Institute of Applied Statistics on November 1st, 2019.
The Gold Medal recognizes Dr Deshani’s outstanding achievement and contribution to the field of data-driven demand-response modelling, particularly with regard to electricity consumption in Sri Lanka. She has demonstrated a high level of skill and expertise in her chosen field, and her findings are sure to contribute significantly to the ongoing discourse on energy consumption in Sri Lanka.
