Population Science

Population Science involves investigating why certain populations are healthier than others and then using that information to address health-related issues of the population. Population ageing is one of the most prominent issues and a universal phenomenon in the current world. Identifying determinants of healthy ageing is an important research area. Another important research area associated with the population is labour market integration. Identifying gaps in the supply and demand of the labour market and developing a framework to address those are essential for economic development. Our research focuses on these research problems.

Sustainable Energy

Energy is sustainable if it “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.Most definitions of sustainable energy include considerations of environmental aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions and social and economic aspects such as energy poverty.

Environmental Impact on Ecosystems and Biodiversity

Biodiversity refers to the variety of living species on Earth, including plants, animals, bacteria, and fungi. While Earth’s biodiversity is so rich that many species have yet to be discovered, many species are being threatened with extinction due to human activities, putting the Earth’s magnificent biodiversity at risk.

Environmental Monitoring and Impact on Public Health

World Health Organization (WHO) reports reveal that 24% of the global burden of disease is attributed to modifiable environmental factors. Exposure to environmental pollution is associated with many diseases including Asthma, Diabetes, Cataract and other Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). NCDs kill 41 million people each year at present, equivalent to 71% of all deaths globally.
